Is there a rule of thumb when you receive baby announcements? I mean, Would it be okay to send a baby gift or just a card acknowledging the cheerful addition?

Okay, here are my ideas:

• A new baby is a magnificent time to buy a gift and it doesn’t have to be pricey. I personally would like to give a gift.
• If the parents are not close friends or family to you, save the money and just send a cute card or something small that they can put in a baby album.

So I guess, it would really depend on what level of closeness and relationship is with the birth parents. If you’re not very close to them, get a little something that would show your congrats but wouldn’t cost much.
